THE TRUE IMPACT LIES IN THE STORIES BEHIND THE PROJECTS.
We wanted to share the true purpose behind Blue Energy: To uplift communities. To share the load. The alleviate the pressures and work together. To build a better future for our beautiful country.
Our project at Naboom Plastiek in Limpopo is an example of Blue Energy’s real impact in communities. The company is one of the larger employers of the region and by implementing a hybrid solar and battery storage system, we have secured the livelihoods of the staff of the company by providing not only energy security, but operational resilience. This project, funded by Gaia Fund Managers’ Renewables REIT, underscores our dedication to creating resilient, renewable energy systems that drive sustainability and economic growth.

Over 650 tons of Carbon Emissions avoided per year totalling to over 6000 tons for the project
Blue Energy Africa has entered a landmark 20-year green-power agreement with Borbet South Africa, a leading manufacturer of light-alloy wheels for major automotive brands. The project involves the installation of over 5 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and a 4 MWh battery energy storage system at Borbet SA’s facility in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. This initiative will significantly reduce the company’s reliance on Eskom-generated electricity, ensuring operational resilience, reducing carbon emissions by 6,000 tons annually, and supporting sustainable production practices.

Over 6 000 tons of Carbon Emissions avoided per year totalling to over 121 000 tons for the project
The two adjacent farms received 287 kWp solar solutions with 462 kWh battery backup. Combined, the entire Smuts Brothers system will produce more than 370 MWh per year, reducing their emissions by more than 800 tons each year.
By implementing a hybrid solar and battery storage system, we significantly reduced their reliance on the grid, cut energy costs, and lowered carbon emissions. This project, funded by Gaia Fund Managers’ Renewables REIT, underscores our dedication to creating resilient, renewable energy systems that drive sustainability and economic growth.
